Raj Makam

Raj Makam is a seasoned finance professional with over two decades of experience in investment management, currently serving as Managing Director and Portfolio Manager at Oaktree Capital Management since May 2001. In this role, Raj is a member of the Investment Committee for Direct Lending strategies and leads Oaktree's Middle Market Strategies. Raj has been instrumental in establishing several key funds, including the Mezzanine Fund, Middle Market Senior Debt business, and a middle market SBIC Fund. Prior to Oaktree, Raj held the position of Vice President at Banc of America Securities and worked as a Senior Software Engineer at Montage Group Limited and Dantec Electronics. Raj obtained an MBA in Finance from Yale School of Management and a Master’s in Engineering from The University of Akron, in addition to a Bachelor's degree from Bangalore University.
