Derek Winkel

Derek Winkel currently serves as the Chief Operating Officer at Oberon Fuels, where Derek leads operations, engineering, and logistics for the pioneering company in renewable DME commercialization aimed at reducing CO2 emissions and enhancing renewable hydrogen transportation. Prior to this role, Derek held significant positions at Chevron as Vice President of Manufacturing Development, Commercial Performance, and Services, and at Renewable Energy Group, Inc. as Vice President of Manufacturing Operations and Executive Director of Manufacturing Operations. Derek’s career began as a Process Engineer and Department Supervisor at National Starch and Chemical and progressed through a Technical Manager role at POET. Derek Winkel holds an MBA from Iowa State University, complemented by a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the same institution.
