Iain Coucher

Iain Coucher is an accomplished executive with extensive experience in leadership roles across various sectors, including water regulation, environmental conservation, and transportation. Currently serving as Chairman of Ofwat since July 2022, Coucher oversees the economic regulation of the water and sewage industry in England and Wales. As a Trustee for both the British Trust for Ornithology and Earthwatch Institute, Coucher demonstrates a commitment to environmental education and scientific research. Previous positions include Chief Executive of AWE, where expertise in defense technology was honed, and Chief Executive of Network Rail, overseeing the national rail network. Coucher's educational background includes degrees in Aeronautical Engineering, an MBA, and two Master's degrees focusing on Environmental Decision Making and Systems Thinking in Practice.
