David Roodman

David Roodman is a Senior Advisor at Open Philanthropy. David has over 25 years of experience in the field of philanthropy and economic research.

Roodman started their career as a Senior Researcher at the Worldwatch Institute. David then moved to the Center for Global Development, where they spent 11 years as a Senior Fellow. In 2013, they joined the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation as a Senior Economic Advisor.

In January 2015, Roodman left the Gates Foundation to become a Senior Advisor at GiveWell. David stayed with GiveWell for three years before joining Open Philanthropy in 2018.

David Roodman received their AB in Mathematics from Harvard University and their bachelor's degree from Binghamton High School.
