Sharan Srinivas is an experienced professional in human rights advocacy and international relations, currently serving as Acting Co-Director at Open Society Foundations since January 2018, where Sharan co-manages a remote team and oversees initiatives aimed at securing democratic freedoms globally. Prior roles at Open Society include Division Director and Team Manager, focusing on activism, civic participation, and support for human rights defenders. Sharan established the Geneva office for the Right Livelihood Award Foundation and led research and advocacy efforts for Laureates at risk. Previous positions include work with the Center for Policy Research, Commonwealth Human Rights Initiative, UNICEF, and the International Justice Project. Sharan holds a Master’s degree in Diplomacy and International Relations from Seton Hall University and a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from the University of Missouri-Kansas City.
