Dirk Petersen serves as the Director of the Supercomputing Center at Oregon State University since December 2024, overseeing computing center operations. Previously, as the Strategic Research Computing Director at Oregon Health & Science University from April 2022 to November 2024, Dirk secured $2M in NIH HEI grants and developed a strategic plan for research computing. At Moffitt Cancer Center, Dirk led scientific computing initiatives, obtaining $4M in federal grants to establish the Tampa Bay Life Sciences Computing Commons. At Fred Hutch from November 2003 to December 2020, Dirk managed a $3M annual budget for high-performance computing and cloud teams, supporting over 250 researchers. Dirk holds a BA in Business Administration and Economics from Wirtschaftsakademie, Kiel.
