Dr. Rasmussen is a fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon specializing in total hip and knee replacements. He grew up in Mitchell, South Dakota, and completed medical school at USD Sanford School of Medicine. After residency at the University of Florida Jacksonville and a resident researcher appointment at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, he completed the Hedley Adult Reconstruction fellowship in Phoenix, AZ, at Abrazo Orthopedic Specialists.
Soft tissue preservation is critical in achieving rapid recovery after total joint replacement. For this reason, Dr. Rasmussen employs less invasive techniques during joint replacement, including the SuperPATH® tissue-sparing surgical approach for total hip replacement, the subvastus quadriceps-sparing approach for total knee replacement, and robotic-assisted surgery. These techniques may enable the patient to leave the hospital earlier without requiring the typical post-operative hip restrictions. Additionally, Dr. Rasmussen enjoys complex revision joint replacement, general orthopedics, and orthopedic trauma.
