Bradley R. Thayer is a Managing Vice President, Corporate Development at Capital One Financial Corporation, headquartered in McLean, Virginia. Brad joined Capital One in June 2002. While at Capital One, his efforts have been principally focused on strategic transactional activities in support of Capital One’s Card, Auto, Commercial and International businesses, including mergers & acquisitions, divestitures, partnerships, equity investments and strategic funding arrangements.
Brad's career also includes senior finance positions with The Boeing Company and Lockheed Martin Corporation. Previously he spent 11 years in the investment banking business, working on a wide range of financing and merger & acquisition assignments.
Brad joined the OBUSA Board of Directors in early 2018. A native of Southern California, his love for the outdoors was fostered by his father’s love of camping and fishing in the Western U.S. His involvement in youth character development was initiated through his own experiences in Boy Scouting, and his involvement with his children as a Boy Scout and Girl Scout leader. Brad and his adult son have undertaken a range of backpacking trips in the Eastern and Western United States, highlighted by their adventure through the 100 Mile Wilderness of the Appalachian Trail in Maine. Closer to home, he served as a member of the Board of the St. Francis Episcopal School, an independent, co-educational Preschool-12 school in Potomac, Maryland.
Brad earned an undergraduate degree in economics from Stanford University and a master's degree in business administration from the Stanford University Graduate School of Business. He lives in Chevy Chase, Maryland with his wife, Jody, who is a psychotherapist. Brad and Jody have three adult children.
