Catalina Botero-Marino is a lawyer and the Chairholder of the UNESCO Chair on Freedom of Expression at the Universidad de los Andes, Colombia. He was previously dean of the Law School at the same university. From 2008 to 2014, he served as Special Rapporteur for Freedom of Expression for the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights at the Organization of American States. He is an adjunct professor at the American University Washington College of Law’s Academy of Human Rights and International Humanitarian Law. He is also part of Columbia University’s group of experts of the Global Freedom of Expression and Information Project, a member of the Iuris Dictio Journal’s Scientific Committee from the University of San Francisco de Quito, also a member of the Editorial Advisory Board of the International Journal of Constitutional Law. He has been a member of the Center for Constitutional Studies of the Supreme Court of Justice of Mexico, the Board of Directors of ARTICLE 19, the Center for Reproductive Rights, and Fundación para la Libertad de Prensa (FLIP), among others.
