Jaba Mitra

Jaba Mitra, Ph.D., currently serves as a Senior Scientist at PacBio since November 2021, focusing on advanced nucleic acid sequencing technologies. Previously, Jaba worked as a Scientist III in Research and Development at Thermo Fisher Scientific, contributing to high-throughput nucleic acid sequencing platforms for medical diagnosis and personalized medicine. Jaba's academic background includes a Ph.D. in Materials Engineering from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, where research revolved around the dynamics of nucleic acids and proteins. Additional research experience includes a role as a Graduate Research Assistant at Johns Hopkins University, where similar research was conducted, and as a Research Assistant at the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, focusing on nanostructures and cell biology applications. Jaba has also held teaching assistant positions, enhancing others' understanding of complex scientific concepts.
