Jetske Bouma

Program Lead Societal Sustainability Transformation at PBL Planbureau voor de Leefomgeving

Jetske Bouma is a senior policy researcher at PBL Planbureau voor de Leefomgeving, where since May 2014, Jetske has led the program 'Citizen engagement' and the behavioural-economic work, while also serving as deputy program leader of 'Policy instrument design & evaluation.' Jetske's prior experience includes acting Head of Department and environmental economist at the Institute for Environmental Studies at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam from February 2007 to April 2014, focusing on community co-management and ecosystem governance. Additionally, Jetske worked as an associate expert-resource economist at the International Water Management Institute in India from 2002 to 2005, integrating PhD research with various watershed development projects. Earlier in Jetske's career, from 1998 to 2002, significant roles as an environmental economist-policy advisor at Rijkswaterstaat RIZA involved contributions to the EU Water Framework Directive and multiple projects on Dutch water management financing. Jetske holds a PhD in environmental economics from Tilburg University and an MSc in Economics from the University of Amsterdam.
