James Johnson

James Johnson is an experienced professional in the field of protein engineering and synthetic biology, currently serving as Director of Protein Engineering at Pencil Biosciences Limited since August 2024. Previously, James held the position of Director of Enzyme Engineering and Senior Scientist at Epoch Biodesign, contributing to DNA sequence design and engineering. At the University of Liverpool, James managed the GeneMill facility and served as Data Production Manager for next-generation sequencing projects. Additional experience includes postdoctoral research roles focused on optogenetics and neurobiology at The University of Manchester and the University of Liverpool.
