Nicolas Bueno Zapata

Nicolas Bueno Zapata is a doctoral fellow at Penn State University, focusing on multiphase flow in porous media through computational fluid dynamics, while also teaching reservoir simulation. As a co-founder of COPÉRNICO S.A.S, Nicolas develops solar energy projects with an emphasis on environmental conservation. Previous experience includes internships at Chevron, where research on unconventional reservoirs and thermal modeling was conducted, and a role as an assistant consultant at Early Warning System SIATA, creating Python libraries for landslide monitoring. Nicolas has a strong research background, having worked on numerical models for enhanced oil recovery and nanoparticle transport in porous media, and has contributed to significant national plans for optimizing reservoir processes. Educational qualifications include a PhD in Energy and Mineral Engineering from Penn State University, a Master's in Petroleum Engineering from Universidad Nacional de Colombia, and a Bachelor's in Petroleum Engineering from the same institution.
