Ian Burgess

Ian Burgess serves as the President and CTO of Validere Technologies, an emissions and commodity management platform utilized by over 50 companies in energy, carbon removal, and nature-based solutions. In addition to this leadership role, Ian holds positions as a Board Member at NEXT Canada and as a Venture Partner at Pioneer Fund, which supports Y Combinator startups. Ian's previous experience includes being a Banting Fellow at the University of Toronto, a Wyss Technology Development Fellow at the Wyss Institute for Biologically Inspired Engineering, and contributing to research at esteemed institutions such as Harvard University and McMaster University. Ian holds a PhD in Applied Physics from Harvard University and a Bachelor of Science in Mathematical Physics from the University of Waterloo.
