Thomas Frederikse is a distinguished expert in coastal sea-level changes, currently serving as Science Lead at Planet since November 2022. Previously, Thomas worked as a researcher at NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory from April 2018 to November 2022, where responsibilities included investigating sea-level changes, computing projections, and contributing to the 2022 US Interagency Sea Level report aimed at informing Congress and the White House. Prior experience includes a postdoctoral position focused on global and local sea-level rise and another postdoctoral role at Utrecht University, where methods were developed to assess coastal flood risks. Thomas co-authored the IPCC's Special Report on the Ocean and Cryosphere in a Changing Climate and holds a PhD in Civil Engineering and Geosciences from Delft University of Technology, complemented by degrees in Applied Physics and a minor in Economics.
