Alexis Toumi

Alexis Toumi is a Research and Development Scientist at PlantingSpace, where expertise in category theory is applied to explainable artificial intelligence, probabilistic programming, and natural language processing. Prior to this role, Alexis served as a Scientific Advisor at Cambridge Quantum Computing, focusing on quantum natural language processing and category theory applications in quantum computing. Previous experience includes a postdoctoral position at Aix-Marseille University, where research centered on formal methods for distributed quantum computing, and a general managerial role at Le Lab Quantique, promoting quantum technologies. Alexis has also worked as a Data Scientist at both the Institut de Recherche et d’Histoire des Textes and TEKLIA, contributing to deep learning projects for medieval palaeography. Early career experience includes a Machine Learning Engineer role at tinyclues, improving email targeting prediction, and data science projects in natural language processing at Yonder s.r.l. Alexis holds a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Oxford and has pursued education at the same institution and Lycée International de St Germain en Laye.
