The Portuguese Football Federation is a non-profit collective person, of public, private utility, comprising 22 district or regional associations, a professional league of clubs, associations of sports agents, clubs or sports societies, players, coaches and referees, registered or affiliated under the terms of the statutes, and other sports agents.

Its main objects are the representation of Portuguese football at national and international level; the competitive management of the Selections; the organization of competitions at local, district and national level or ensuring the development of football in Portugal according to the sporting spirit, educational, cultural and humanitarian values, through training programs of different sports agents. 

FPF manages 23 national teams, male and female, in the areas of football, futsal and beach soccer, and organizes 36 competitions. Portugal has 180,735 federated football practitioners.
