Erich Gulbins

Dr. Erich Gulbins obtained his medical and doctoral degrees from the University of Heidelberg, Germany, followed by a postdoctoral fellowship at La Jolla Institute of Allergy and Immunology. Dr. Gulbins is a Professor and Chair of the Institute of Molecular Biology, and Medical Faculty at the University of Duisburg-Essen, Germany. He is also an Adjunct Professor at the Department of Surgery and College of Medicine, University of Cincinnati. He is an internationally recognized expert on the role of sphingolipids metabolism in infection, airway diseases, and tumor progression. His research focuses on host-pathogen interaction and immune responses in airway diseases such a Cystic Fibrosis and tumor-host interactions.

Dr. Gulbins has authored more than 240 scientific publications and received various academic awards and research grants. He is a founder and Chief Scientific Officer of Harbins Ruhr Bioscience, Inc. Dr. Gulbin’s insights in the pathogenesis of airway diseases and molecular mechanisms of disease progression are valuable for the PTNx clinical development pipeline.
