Roel Steenbeek (1956) has worked in public housing for many years after his study 'sociology of building and living' in Groningen. After a period as a manager, he fulfilled the functions of director and director from 1996 onwards. Until the end of 2013, he was chairman of the Board of Directors of Ymere, the largest housing corporation in the Netherlands. During that period he was also active nationally in the umbrella organization and held several additional social positions.
Since 2014 he has established himself independently and is active in the field of supervision, management and advice. In previous and current additional positions, he became acquainted with care organizations as a supervisor in addition to social and socio-cultural organizations, including as chairman of the Supervisory Board (RvC) of Woonzorg Nederland (housing for the elderly), as a member of the Supervisory Board of Espria (care, including GGZ) and as chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Bardo Foundation (high care hospice). Roel Steenbeek joined the Supervisory Board in May 2014 and acts as chairman.
