Herman Crause

Herman Crause is a seasoned technology leader with extensive experience in the insurance and IT sectors. As the Director and Insurance Tech Tower Lead at PwC South Africa since July 2024, Herman is focused on building a skilled team within the newly established Insurance Tech Tower. Prior to this role, Herman spent 15 years at Santam Insurance, where as Head of Business Solutions, responsibilities included overseeing technology solution delivery for the company and serving as Executive IT business partner for the Broker Solutions business. Herman has contributed to strategic initiatives such as Agile transformation and the implementation of a new policy administration platform. Previous roles include Senior Information Technology Manager positions at Clicks Group and Shoprite Checkers, where Herman led modernization efforts and significant IT transformations. Herman's career commenced at Sanlam as a Programmer/Designer/Systems Analyst, building a strong foundation in IT. Education includes a Higher National Diploma in Computer Data Processing from the Cape Peninsula University of Technology.
