Dr. Christian Wacker

Dr. Christian Wacker is an accomplished museum and exhibition director with extensive experience in the cultural sector. Currently serving as the Deputy Director of Exhibitions at Qatar Museums since April 2022, Dr. Wacker focuses on implementing a temporary exhibition program in preparation for the FIFA World Cup 2022, alongside long-term exhibition planning. Previous roles include Director of the Sheikh Abdullah Al Salem Cultural Centre, overseeing a significant cultural project in Kuwait; Museum Director at the Karl May Museum Radebeul, where the institution underwent comprehensive renewal; and Academic Project Director for Museum Studies at the University Freiburg, aimed at advancing knowledge in museum practices. Dr. Wacker also served as Director and Chief Curator of the Qatar Olympic & Sports Museum, Director of the Deutsches Sport und Olympia Museum, and held various positions in publishing and project management early in their career. Dr. Wacker holds a PhD in Archaeology and History from The Julius Maximilians University of Würzburg and a Master of Arts from The University of Freiburg.
