Jonathan Lau

Jonathan Lau is a highly experienced materials scientist with a focus on energy storage and advanced battery technologies. Currently serving as a Principal Member of Technical Staff at QuantumScape since July 2020, Jonathan previously held roles at Berkeley Lab as a Postdoctoral Scholar, where significant contributions included leading research on sulfide solid electrolytes and dynamic phase change materials. Jonathan's early research at the University of California, Los Angeles, encompassed the design of electrodes for energy storage and the development of hybrid solid electrolytes, alongside the synthesis of nanoscale transition-metal oxides. Educational qualifications include a Ph.D. and M.S. in Materials Science and Engineering from UCLA, complemented by a B.S. in the same field.
