Ronald Hanson

Lead National Agenda Quantum Technology at QuTech

Ronald Hanson serves as the Lead National Agenda Quantum Technology and Scientific Director at QuTech, overseeing research and management of the institute, which expanded from approximately 100 to 200 full-time employees under their leadership. Since May 2019, Ronald has been the Roadmap Leader for Quantum Internet and Networked Computing at the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences (KNAW) and a member of the Royal Holland Society of Sciences and Humanities. Additionally, Ronald has held various academic roles at TU Delft, including Antoni van Leeuwenhoek Professor, and previously served as Chairman of the Executive Board for Quantum Delta NL, managing a 615 million Euro growth fund program. Ronald's earlier roles include being a member of The Young Academy at KNAW and a postdoctoral research fellow at the University of California, Santa Barbara. Educationally, Ronald earned a PhD in Physics from Delft University of Technology and an MSc in Applied Physics from the University of Groningen.
