Andrew Ubel was formerly Deputy General Counsel, Chief Intellectual Property Counsel for Valspar Corporation from January 2000 until the sale of Valspar to Sherwin William in 2018. His responsibilities include managing Valspar’s worldwide patent, trademark, copyright and trade secret legal matters. Prior to joining Valspar, Andy worked for 3M Company, initially as a product development research scientist (where he was named as an inventor on over 25 U.S. patents) and later as a patent attorney. Andy received a B.S. Chem Eng. from MIT; a M.S. Material Science from the University of Minnesota; and a Juris Doc. from William Mitchell College of Law.
