Shimon Eckhouse is the current chairman and co-founder of Rapid Medical. Shimon has also previously founded Theranica Bio-Electronics Ltd, Alon MedTech Ventures, and Epitomee Medical. From January 2000 to July 2017, they were also the co-founder and chairman of Syneron Candela. Syneron Candela is a global leader in aesthetic medical devices with 2016 revenue of approximately $300M. In July 2017, the company was acquired by APAX partners in a “going private” transaction. Prior to Syneron Candela, from January 1992 to December 1999, Eckhouse was the founder, chairman, and CEO of Lumenis (formerly ESC Medical Systems). Lumenis is a global leader in medical and aesthetic lasers. The company went public on Nasdaq in January of 1996 and raised more than $250M in 3 public offerings.
Shimon Eckhouse received their Doctor of Philosophy in Physics from UC Irvine. Prior to that, they earned their B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Physics from the Technion - Israel Institute of Technology.
