Region Trade Bank for investment and Finance PJS Co. (formerly Emerald Bank) started its operations on July 2001 as a locally-owned, independent bank servicing community of Iraq. The first branch was located in Dohuk city, not very far from the Turkish border. Despite the risky situation and the multiple barriers prevailing at that time.

In September 2003, RTBank established its Headquarters and Main Branch in the capital, Erbil, and continued to expand its various product offerings.
