Maria Morris joined the Resolution Life board of directors in 2019. She currently chairs the compensation committee.
Maria is the retired executive vice president and head of the global employee benefits business of MetLife Inc, where she worked for 33 years. Maria held responsibility for the company's employee benefits business across 40 countries and global relationships with multinationals and financial institution distributors. In that capacity, Maria doubled Metlife's global group life, health, pensions and credit businesses and oversaw the successful integration of MetLife’s US$16.4 billion acquisition of American Life Insurance Company (Alico).
Maria has a strong board pedigree. She sits as an independent director (since 2016) and audit committee chair of S&P Global Inc, and independent director (since 2018) and risk committee chair of Wells Fargo & Company.
Maria is also a member of the board of trustees of Catholic Charities Archdiocese of New York and chair of the board of directors of All Stars Project Inc.
Over the course of her three decade long career at MetLife, Maria held many senior leadership positions including interim chief marketing officer and head of global technology and operations.
In 2016-2017, Maria served as interim head of MetLife's US business where she oversaw all of MetLIfe's business in the US, representing approximately 60 per cent. of MetLife's operating earnings, post the separation of its Retail business.
Maria earned her Bachelor of Arts degree, majoring in psychology, from Franklin & Marshall College.
