Toban Shadlyn

Toban Shadlyn serves as the Co-director and Faculty for the Master of Strategic Design in Complexity at the University School of Design and Engineering of Barcelona, where strategic design integrates systems thinking, sustainability, and social sciences. As an Independent Practitioner, Toban has collaborated with notable organizations such as the United Nations Development Programs and the Wellcome Fund UK. Additionally, Toban co-coordinates a program at IED Barcelona that enhances professionals' skills in detecting change and designing innovative solutions. Other roles include Visiting Lecturer and Thesis Advisor at the Rhode Island School of Design and Partner at Field States, focusing on place-based transformation. As a co-founder of mainstay RI, advocacy for redesigning care environments for those affected by the overdose crisis is prioritized. Toban's academic background includes a Master of Design in Interior Architecture from the Rhode Island School of Design and a Bachelor of Science from the University of Alberta.
