Gillian Treacy

Gillian delivered an incredibly emotional Victim Impact Statement on the day the individual who collided with their car was sentenced. This statement captured the attention of the media and nation and refocused society’s attention on the impact of drink-driving.

Two years after the tragedy, the Treacy family worked with the RSA in an effort to eliminate drink driving from the roads. They featured in a new ‘Crashed Lives’ television road safety campaign with the RSA and fronted the RSA and An Garda Síochána 2016 Christmas and New Year Anti Drink Driving Campaign. Gillian has also spoken out on many occasions in the recent past against drink-driving and to advocate on behalf of road safety.
