Ken Barat

Ken Barat is the Laser Safety Officer for the National Ignition Facility Directorate at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. He is a Certified LSO and Fellow of the Laser Institute of America, winner of the Tim Rener User Service Award from the Advanced Light Source, 2001. Ken was LSO at Lawrence Berkeley Nat. Lab, and lead the Non-ionizing group for the Arizona Radiation Regulatory Agency. He is a member of several ANSI committees, including the Main Z136 group, control committee, non-beam committee and Educational Z136.5 committee. Ken has lectured on laser safety throughout the US and abroad. He has authored several laser safety articles, contributed a chapter on Medical laser safety for a textbook and has lectured for several professional societies including the Health Physics Society and AIHA and National Safety Council.
