Michael Codner

Michael Codner is a highly experienced military scholar currently serving as a Senior Research Fellow in Military Sciences and Editorial Director for RUSI Defence Systems at the Royal United Services Institute since January 1996. Prior to this, Michael worked as a Defence Fellow at the Centre for Defence Studies at King's College, London, focusing on European naval capabilities and maritime doctrine. Michael's extensive career in the Royal Navy spanned nearly three decades, culminating in the rank of Commander, where notable positions included Operations Officer on HMS ARDENT and Professor of Operations at the Naval War College. Michael holds BA and MA degrees in Philosophy and Psychology from the University of Oxford.
