Steven Chiv

Steven Chiv is a seasoned professional in waste management and sustainability, currently serving as the Commercial Zero Waste Coordinator at the San Francisco Department of the Environment since January 2009. In this role, Steven has developed innovative waste reduction policies, including the Mandatory Recycling and Composting Ordinance and bans on plastic bags and Styrofoam. Additionally, Steven manages a commercial Zero Waste team focused on assisting retail businesses and office tenants in achieving the City and County of San Francisco's environmental and climate objectives. Previously, as the Residential Zero Waste and Special Projects Associate, Steven significantly increased recycling and composting participation in multi-family apartments. Earlier experience includes serving as a Business Development Manager at Tutorpedia, where Steven implemented eco-friendly policies, and working as a Business and Data Analyst at Genentech, contributing to the development of a CRM tool for sales departments. Steven holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in History and Communications from the University of Arizona.
