Dr. Ashmi Desai

Dr. Ashmi Desai is an Assistant Professor specializing in Conflict Management and Community Dialogue at San Francisco State University since August 2019. Previously, Dr. Desai served as a Postdoctoral Associate and Professional Research Assistant at the University of Colorado Boulder from August 2011 to August 2019, where involvement with CU Engage focused on facilitating community-based research and equity-oriented partnerships. Dr. Desai has also held roles as a Graduate Teaching and Research Assistant, where responsibilities included managing the Leadership Studies Minor program and curriculum development, and as an Instructor for an undergraduate course on Multicultural Global Leadership. Additionally, Dr. Desai has experience as a freelance podcaster and social media manager, a Chief Correspondent/Copy Editor for The Times of India, and an intern with the UNEP on disaster management in Sri Lanka. Education includes a PhD in Communication and Media Studies from the University of Colorado Boulder, along with master's and bachelor's degrees in Development Communication and Commerce from various institutions.
