Uzma Alam, MPH, Ph.D., is a seasoned public health professional with extensive experience in science policy engagement and operational research. Currently serving as Program Lead for Science Policy Engagement at Science for Africa Foundation since November 2021, Uzma leads the development of a Pan-African science, technology, and innovation agenda to address the continent's critical needs. As an independent public health consultant since January 2020, Uzma provides strategic consulting, science communication, and data analytics to enhance decision-making in humanitarian and international development contexts. Previous roles include Vice President at Fluid-Screen, where Uzma directed a multidisciplinary team in rapid microbial detection technology development, and Head of Operational Research at Kenya Red Cross, focusing on disease outbreak and WASH issues. Education credentials include a Ph.D. in Microbiology & Immunology from the University of Maryland Baltimore and a Master of Public Health from Yale School of Public Health.
