Arnie, a founder of ScienceMedia, was trained as a theoretical/computational chemist at Cornell and at the Weitzman Institute. Through a variety of collaborations and consulting relationships with pharmaceutical companies, Arnie recognized the need for rigorous, user-friendly, professionally supported structure-based design tools, and in 1984 founded and served as CEO of Biosym, Inc., which introduced a variety of software tools for structure-based design. The company grew to 240 people and was sold to Corning. Arnie has served as President of Structural Proteomics and VP of Discovery Partners, a CRO. Currently, Arnie is VP of computational structural biology at Shifa and adjunct professor in the department of Chemistry at UMass Amherst.
