Matt Shumway

Matt Shumway has extensive experience at Seagate Technology, holding various positions from June 1997 to the present. As part of the Technology Development team in the Office of the CTO, Matt focuses on strategic partnerships and research to identify new revenue opportunities. In product line management, Matt collaborates with customers and internal teams to advance HDD technology for cloud infrastructure. Previously, as Core Team Design Lead, Matt chaired cross-functional teams through product development, ensuring design meets performance and reliability standards. Matt also led mechanical design programs, specifically in hard disk drive components, utilizing advanced analytical techniques and managing resources effectively. Prior experience includes roles as a Research Assistant at the University of Washington and as a Junior Development Engineer at the University of California, complemented by a Master of Science and Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the respective universities.
