John Hainze

John Hainze is an experienced educator and researcher with a diverse background in entomology, environmental ethics, and product development. Currently serving as an instructor at Seattle University since March 2016, John teaches courses such as A Sound Ecosystem and Global Water Supply. Prior to this role, John was the Vice President of Science and Research at Thermacell Repellents, Inc., where responsibilities included overseeing mosquito repellent formulation and regulatory affairs. As the President of BioOpus LLC from 2010 to 2020, John focused on sustainable insect research and environmental projects. Previous academic positions included adjunct faculty roles at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and Carroll University. John's early career featured extensive R&D experience at SC Johnson, culminating in senior management positions responsible for significant budgets and product development in insect control. John holds a PhD in Entomology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, a Master's Degree in Religion/Religious Studies from Yale University, and a BSc in Biology from Lewis & Clark College.
