Kim Thomsen

Kim Thomsen, Ph.D., is a seasoned mechanical engineer with extensive experience in the wind energy sector, currently serving as a Senior Key Expert at Siemens Gamesa since April 2016. In this role, Kim focuses on R&D for next-generation offshore platforms and serves as the product owner for the bearing system. Prior to this, Kim worked at Siemens Wind Power from August 2007 to March 2016 as a Lead Mechanical Engineer, leading the technical development of main bearing systems for direct drive platforms. Academic qualifications include a Master of Science and a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the Technical University of Denmark. Early career experiences include roles at ProInvent A/S and Cimbria Manufacturing A/S, where Kim contributed to the design of production machines and agricultural equipment.
