Royce Vavrek

Royce Vavrek is an accomplished librettist and bookwriter with extensive experience in contemporary opera and musical theater. Notable works include "The House Without a Christmas Tree" and "27," both collaborations with composer Ricky Ian Gordon, as well as "Breaking the Waves" with Missy Mazzoli and "JFK" with David T. Little. Vavrek has also contributed as a bookwriter and co-lyricist for "Midwestern Gothic" in collaboration with Joshua Schmidt. Additionally, Vavrek has served as a Music Theater Initiative Assistant at The Public Theater. Education includes a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Film Production from Concordia University and a Master of Fine Arts in Musical Theater Writing from New York University. Current affiliations include Houston Grand Opera, Opera Philadelphia, and Fort Worth Opera, among others.
