Derek Yen

Derek Yen, CPA, CA, MCIPS, has an extensive work history spanning over several industries. Derek is currently serving as the Global Head of Procurement at Sims Limited, a global leader in metal and electronics recycling. In this role, he is responsible for driving innovation and offering new solutions in the circular economy.

Prior to joining Sims Limited, Derek held the position of Chairman and Non-Executive Director at Connect Macquarie Park & North Ryde, where he worked to improve transportation in the business precinct. Derek also served as the Group Head of Procurement, Property & Security at Downer and as the Group Manager of Business Improvement.

Derek has significant experience in the aviation industry, having worked at Qantas in various roles including General Manager of Business Transformation, General Manager of Operations, and General Manager of Airport Development and Concessions. Derek also held senior positions at Qantas Holidays and Viva! Holidays, where he focused on business improvement and development.

Early in his career, Derek worked at KPMG Australia and KPMG Canada in assistant and senior roles, respectively. His expertise lies in transformation, procurement, business improvement, commercial and operations management.

Derek Yen obtained his CA, CPA degree in Chartered Accountancy from the Chartered Professional Accountants of Ontario. Derek also holds a BA in Economics from Western University. Additionally, they earned an MCIPS degree from CIPS - The Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply.
