Drag Barnett

Drag Barnett currently serves as the Pre-Construction Director at Sir Robert McAlpine, leading the Civil Engineering Pre-Construction team on various UK infrastructure projects for key clients like National Highways, HS2, and Sellafield. With a strong focus on estimating, planning, and bid management, Drag drives the development of effective work winning teams to achieve strategic objectives. Previously, Drag held multiple roles at Balfour Beatty plc, including Director of Operations, where leadership was provided for a regional civils business unit, facilitating a budget turnover of approximately £40 million. Drag has also managed significant projects such as the Liverpool Lime Street Gateway and the Trent Valley Four Tracking Project. Earlier career experience includes positions at Trafalgar House and Wimpey Engineering, complemented by a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from Loughborough University.
