Trudy Harper retired in 2012 from her role as President of Tenaska Power Services Co., the power marketing affiliate of Tenaska, one of the largest non-regulated developers and owners of power plants in the United States. She remains on the Tenaska Board of Stakeholders and continues to participate in meetings and strategic planning activities.
Before leading the company, Trudy was general manager of business development for Tenaska’s independent power plant development efforts. She served on the Board of the Electric Reliability Council of Texas, the Members Committee of the Southwest Power Pool, and the Executive Committee of the Electric Power Supply Association. She has chaired numerous industry committees, including the North American Electric Reliability Corporation Stakeholders committee. Trudy was the 2010 recipient of the Gulf Coast Power Association’s Pat Wood Power Star Award for her contributions to the deregulation of the Texas power market.
Before joining Tenaska in 1992, Trudy held various positions with Texas Utilities Electric Co. in Dallas.
Trudy earned BS and MS degrees in electrical engineering with an electric power emphasis from Tennessee Technological University (TTU) and a MBA with a finance emphasis from Southern Methodist University.
Trudy serves on the boards of InfraREIT, the TTU Foundation, and Sports, Arts and Recreation of Chattanooga. She is an adjunct faculty member for the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department at TTU. She received the Tennessee Hospital Association’s Trustee of Distinction Award in 2020.
Since retirement Trudy has returned to her hometown of Soddy-Daisy, Tennessee, where she lives on the lake with her husband.
