Björgólfur Jóhannsson, chairman of the board,born August 28, 1955, home in Seltjarnarnes. Björgólfur was elected to the board of Sjóvár on March 15, 2019, but stepped aside in November 2019 temporarily and was re-elected to the board on March 12, 2020 and then took over the chairmanship of the board. Björgolfur has a Cand. Oecon. degree in business administration from the University of Iceland and certification in auditing. He worked as an accountant in the years 1985-1992. Björgólfur was the financial director of Útgerðarfélag Akureyringa hf. 1992-1996, manager of innovation and development at Samherja 1996-1999, manager of Síldarvällúnn 1999-2006, manager of Icelandic 2006-2007 and CEO of Icelandair Group 2008-2018. He worked as co-CEO of Samherji from November 2019 to February 2021. Björgólfur was the chairman of the board of LÍÚ in the years 2003-2008 and the chairman of the Confederation of Labor 2013-2017. Over the years, he has sat on the boards of many companies in various sectors of the economy, such as Gjögri hf., Festi hf., Íslandstofa and in the tourism control center for SAF.
