Serena is Deputy Head of Global Trade Strategy at the Bank of England and the co-founder of an educational charity, Discover2Dream. In 2020, she won the prestigious Asian Women of Achievement Award, which recognises the contribution of Asian women to businesses and communities in the UK.
Before joining the Bank of England, Serena worked as an M&A lawyer at Magic Circle firm Slaughter and May. She has also worked at reputed law firms in Switzerland and India and interned at the High Court of Justice, London. She holds a Law Degree from the London School of Economics and a Masters in Public International Law from the University of London.
She is the co-founder of a London-based initiative called Discover2Dream, where she leads a team of young female professionals to raise career aspirations of school students through career talks and events. In 2020, Serena was elected to the Board of the Small Countries Financial Management Centre, a charitable organisation that runs training programmes for officials from the 30 smallest economies in the world. She also serves as Governor of Islington Futures Federation, supporting schools in developing new strategies aimed at bolstering diversity. Serena has also done volunteer work at the State Human Rights Commission, Tamil Nadu.
In her spare time, Serena (stage name: Segiri) is an accomplished musician and businesswoman. She runs her own record label to support emerging young female artists and her own music is regularly broadcast on services such as BBC Radio, Apple Music and Spotify.
