Sam became a member of Smith Micro board of directors in October of 2004. Prior to joining the board, Sam served as a partner in the audit practice of Ernst & Young from 1968 until his retirement in 1987. From April 1987 to 1996, he was self-employed as a Certified Public Accountant and business consultant, as well as the part time Chief Financial Officer of several privately-owned companies. From July 1996 until his retirement in September 2002, Sam functioned as the Chief Financial Officer, and as the Vice President of Finance, Secretary and Treasurer of Neotherapeutics, Inc. (NASD: “NEOT”), a publicly traded biotech company. During this same period, he also served as a member of the Board of Directors of Neotherapeutics. Since September 2002, Sam has continued to provide tax and consulting services on a part-time basis to a limited number of clients. He obtained his B.S. degree in Accounting from the University of Southern California.
