Sam Nystrom serves as the Senior Special Events and Conference Coordinator at the Smithsonian Institution, where responsibilities include leading event logistics and coordination for various Smithsonian units, preparing budgets and timelines, and liaising with other offices within the Institution. Prior experience includes a Development Associate role at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars, where event planning for donor cultivation occurred, and a Meetings and Exhibits Coordinator position at the Optical Society of America, managing exhibitor relations for a major conference. Additional experience includes event coordination at the Kennedy Center and the Washington National Opera, where over 60 annual events were planned and executed.
