Byron Ells

Byron Ells is a seasoned marketing and digital experience professional currently serving as Vice President of Marketing Technology & Digital Experience at Empire Company Limited and Sobeys Inc. since 2022. With extensive experience across various leadership roles, Byron previously held positions including Managing Director and Chief Marketing and Digital Officer at StarTech.com, where responsibilities encompassed full P&L accountability and oversight of product design, marketing, and ecommerce strategies. At Walmart Canada, Byron was Head of Digital Marketing and spearheaded the Canadian retail media business, while also making significant contributions at Shoppers Drug Mart as Vice President of Media and Digital. Earlier career highlights include directing new media innovation at CBC Television and leading client strategy at Blast Radius. Byron holds an Honours Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Ottawa and has completed several executive education programs.
