Mike Lipsett is a Professor at the University of Alberta since August 2006, where Mike serves as the Director of Innovation, Creativity, and Entrepreneurship programs. Lipsett has extensive experience in the reliability of engineering systems, particularly in energy systems and oil sands, and holds a Senior Advisor position at Copperstone Technologies while also being the President of MGL Services, focused on consulting in reliability and technology readiness for novel oil sands processes. Prior roles include leading research teams at Syncrude Canada Ltd. and serving as an adjunct professor at UBC. Lipsett's earlier career includes work as a Senior Research Engineer at Atomic Energy of Canada Ltd., specializing in robotic applications for reactor maintenance. Educational qualifications include a Master of Science in Applied Systems Science (robotics) from Kyoto University and a Bachelor of Applied Science in Mechanical Engineering from Queen's University.
