Thiongo Ndungu

Thiongo Ndungu is a seasoned professional in sustainability and climate solutions, currently serving as the Regional Lead for Nature Based Solutions and Carbon Sourcing for Africa at South Pole since May 2023. Previously, Thiongo held the position of Director of Sustainability & Partnerships at Climate Lead Africa from March 2019 to April 2023, focusing on the development of carbon sink projects and aligning impact investments with ESG protocols. Thiongo also served as the Regional Head of Partnerships for Eastern Africa at Ten Billion Trees, where key initiatives included collaboration with the Kenyan government on REDD+ projects and forest restoration efforts. As a Sustainability Manager at Biztele Africa, Thiongo contributed to UN Women projects aimed at empowering women in coastal counties. Thiongo's academic background includes a Postgraduate Degree in Climate Change & Sustainable Finance from the United Nations Institute for Training and Research and an MSc in Climate Change & Sustainability from Kenyatta University.
