Janel Dempsey, PhD, is an experienced ICP Applications Specialist at SPECTRO Analytical Instruments GmbH since April 2024. Previously, Janel served as an Application Scientist at Applied Photophysics from September 2022 to April 2024 and as a Postdoctoral Research Associate at Oak Ridge National Laboratory within the Chemical Separations Group from August 2021 to July 2022, focusing on the development of novel chelators for the recovery and separation of rare earth elements. Janel's academic background includes a PhD in Physical Organic Chemistry from the University of Notre Dame, where research involved developing noncovalently assembled fluorescent and photosensitizing molecular probes, along with experience as a graduate teaching assistant. Earlier, Janel worked as an undergraduate research assistant at John Carroll University and as a NSF Research Intern at The University of Akron, contributing to various projects in organic chemistry and polymer science.
